Survivor

I remember where I was when I watched the finale of Survivor Season 1 back in 1999. Our family has been watching it with The Hair family ever since. The game has evolved for us the past  few years as we have played along. However, our winner only gets a $5 gift card and not the million dollar grand prize. ;D
Here are a couple posters from seasons gone by (haha) I always made the posters and got a lot of flack from those who thought I always cheated when it came to drawing names. haha
It's always fun to play along. I haven't been able to do posters the past two seasons but I need to get at it this fall again!
This season was Blue Collar, White Collar, & No Collar. It was a really great cast except one player, Rodney, nearly gave me a heart attack each episode. I can't stand him. When a couple other players were voted off all of us wanted Mike to win. The video below is the final immunity challenge. Mike HAD to win or he would have been voted off. This was all of us together as we watched him. I wish I would have continued to record for about 30 more seconds. It was quite a moment.

Early Graduation Came Early

Brae has been working hard to graduate early in August. She found out last Thursday that if she can finish her online English class (the one she hadn't even started) she can actually graduate the beginning of June with her class (two weeks notice). (This was due to a different  track her counselor switched her to and some satisfied requirements from last year's classes she took online).

I have never seen anything light a fire under her as that news did! It is now six days later and she is on her final assignment. Early, EARLY, graduation is coming fast!! Be watching for your announcement to come in the mail... as soon as we get it from the printer that is! Sorry for the two day notice you will be receiving. haha! I really was on top of the game with the announcements and Senior pics (for August), thank goodness. We had to throw those babies together super fast Thursday night to get them in time.

<3 My baby is grad-gee-ating. I think I should get a diploma too for all the stress I endured along with her the past year. Ugh. :o

Day 3

Our last morning we cleaned up the casita, took this fabulous group photo with Lucas, then went to the pool for a bit for the kids to swim in the rain. lol
We said our goodbyes and headed for the loooonnng drive home. Since it was Memorial Day all of Houston was returning home with us and the freeways were jammed and slow. I will close our trip journal with the following video of my boy dancing at the gas station as we were about 1.5 hours out of Houston.
We had the most wonderful time together as a family and spending time with Dad and Robin was amazing for me and my kids. I loved EVERY minute of our trip. Made coming home to reality the most difficult.

Sea World-Day Two

After our tornado warning the night before we were not in a huge hurry to get to Sea World the next morning. We wanted to let the rain pass. That morning we chilled at my dad's and had lunch before leaving. We had a blast with Cali and "Lucas" (see post below...)
(you can see my Starbucks server in the background)
Our selfie
Remember how in my post below I referred to Bentley as a "city boy". haha This is my boy playing Starbucks out of my dad's RV! haha He played for a long time, too. haha Cracks me up. You can totally (totes) tell he has four big sisters!
More fun with Lucas!
I love every selfie stick picture where Cali's face is cut off! haha The BEST!!
lol
We hit up Aquatica as soon as we got to Sea World on Day Two.
This was us chillin' while the other kids were going down slides.
B hung out most of the time in the wave pool.
Ken in between roller coasters. haha
Lucas captured a great shot of Bella. haha
Near the end of our Sea World experience. Us waiting at the last stop, Elmo's Play Bay (or whatever it's called). We were spent!
After Sea World we went back to dad's to have those grilled pork chops that we didn't get to cook the night before! The kids swam a little at the pool and we had dinner and visited. It was great!

Sea World Trip-Day One

My dad and Robin set up a vacation for us to come see them in San Antonio and go to Sea World together! How amazing is that. They did not know that when they called with this news I had been praying and having a hard time  with the fact that I can never afford to take my kids on vacation. It was a tender  mercy as a mom to have the opportunity to go!
They are in San Antonio temporarily while my dad is overseeing a job. They rented a "casita" for us at their RV Park.It was super cute and perfect for our family! This was taken the first morning before leaving for Sea World.
Bella & Shamu
Our group right before Shamu. I should notate that took B to the bathroom 20 minutes before the show started. And then he had to go again 7 minutes before the show...
Ken took him and I was so thankful the show was delayed due  to inclement weather and they both made it back in time for it to start!

Two youngest with Robin lol
I think this is so cute!
We packed lunch and left it in the car so we could go out to the parking lot to eat and save money. It was raining so we got creative. Cali had used her money the week before we left to purchase a selfie stick (which she named Lucas lol). Everyone had a lot of fun with Lukey. ;)
We didn't get  to do much in Sea World  after lunch due to the rain. We watched one last show, Azul, which was amazing!! Here are some videos:

That night we went back to grill pork chops but the weather wasn't cooperating. While we were at our little house we got a tornado warning. I didn't pay much attention to it and we drove over to my dad's place. On our drive over the weather turned very scary and when we pulled up to my dad's he and Robin were loading their neighbor and her dogs into their Jeep. I called and asked him what was going on. He told me we were going to the laundry facility because it was an actual building. The rain was pouring down. It was a night we will not forget, to say the least! Soaking wet!
I was so impressed with my dad and Robin and how much they were helping everyone else coming in out of the rain. My dad hung out on the porch of the laundry house to help others get in safely. At one point he helped a woman who was carrying in her four children. Robin held one of her kiddos the majority of the time we were there. It warmed my heart to watch them.
This was taken there after the major threat was over...
It's funny I already blogged earlier about Bentley's small bladder but I will add that he and his sister had to use the restroom so badly while we were at the laundry room that night (no potty inside) that everyone kept telling me to take him outside. He is a city boy and doesn't like to pee outside. I tried and he refused telling me "It's fine, it's fine, I will just wait..." haha. Eventually the conditions let up enough that my dad and I took the kids to use the restroom and on the drive to his place B informed me that he could no longer wait and so I took him right outside in the middle of the street to pee. Fastest pee of his life and he does go outside, afterall.
After the storm (which was SUPER intense) passed we went back to dad & Robin's and had chili dogs on the BEST hot dog buns invented!  Check these out:
Never has a hot dog or chili dog tasted so good. These are the most enticing buns you will ever see. haha (see what I did there)! Soft, AND a TOP slice. Perfect hot dog bun!
(Doesn't take much to impress me, ay!)
If you haven't tried them you need to! :D
After dinner we went to our place and showered and watched the end of Step Up.
Our casita had two rooms with queen (or full, idk) beds and a pull out couch. Brae and Ken took the couch bed all 3 nights and I thought this was super cute of them. Brae hugging Ken. <3

Ugly, but Not Shameful

Our (scratch that, my...) finances this month are flat out Ugly, with a capital "U"! It is embarrassing what I have to do to take care of my family. Or humbling I guess. I will not write about borrowing $15 from my kid's birthday money to buy groceries or the tears I cry in fear for how I will provide, especially this month. May has had so much extra. I don't want to go into detail but I want  to share that having hope is a lot of hard work. Hope is a continuous decision we must make to trust and pray and keep doing all we can. I have been down in a depression but don't like it there. All I want is to be able to provide groceries and gas and pay our bills and take care of our needs.

When I was pondering on this last week I naturally started (and always do) to feel ashamed (when I can't make ends meet). I don't know why I do this (and I assume others do too) except as head of the household I know the responsibility is on me and no one else. It occurred to me that I am doing everything I can. I am working my vinyl company, working for Fast Track Swimming doing admin. stuff, and babysitting full time out of the home right now, all while my full time school is out of session. I am trying my best... and I realized that though our circumstance is ugly, there is no shame in it. I am raising a family and there is nothing more important than that. No church calling, no career, no amount of money, can replace the work I am doing.

I will feel much better about that epiphany when I can pay all my bills. ;) lol I am hoping the summer will bring in better income as I expect it should.

Senior Prom

Since Braelyn is skipping a year and graduating early, she was allowed to go to Prom. She wanted to ask a boy who is a Junior, Tyler. She blew up a ton of balloons and worked with Tyler's mom one morning to set up her "prom-posal". She put the balloons in his car with a pin to pop them, leaving a note inside.
This is the collage she put together after he said "yes". :)
They looked so beautiful.
Brae with Marshae and Katri <3
Brae & Ken

Cute!!
Comfort!
One of the young men in the group hooked up photographs at his dad's Country Club.
It was a beautiful place.
Fun group!
After pictures they went to eat at Perry's Steakhouse, then up to Prom (Marriott The Woodlands), then to APE (after party) lock in at the school.

Shared Birthday Party

Bentley's birthday is Cinco de Mayo and Kensington's is the 13th. This year they decided  to celebrate together. Bent has always had lame parties so this year we found an awesome coupon and took the kids to Cosmic Jump for their combined party. It was really (ghetto) fun! As long as you do not drink the water or use their nasty bathrooms. lol The kids had a lot of (sweaty) fun! Here are some pictures of the party and the kids on their birthdays. Maybe a video or two, as well. (:

This man is our amazing home teacher. He made these blocks for Bentley. 250 pieces. <3
